Fall Is Festival Time Along the Grand Strand

There’s something about autumn in the South, when pumpkins are harvested and put out at roadside for sale, when people come together to listen to music, eat great food, and compete in oyster-shucking, shrimp-peeling, and other coastal pursuits. Yams are harvested by the truck-full. The Tabor City community selects “Miss Yam” to reign at its festival celebrating the vegetable of the same name.
