Ever wonder where molasses comes from? Want to see it made, the way it used to be made before big business brought it indoors? Come to Eastport, the Freewoods Farm of O’Neal Smalls. Your experience at this small-scale farm will include a visit to Jake the mule shown here, grinding sugar cane, extracting the liquid. Sorghum comes from boiled sugar cane juice which thickens. The leftover hard material feeds hogs.
