100 Years Ago in Baseball

With the 2009 World Series of baseball now ended, it is interesting to compare this event to those of yesteryear. One hundred years ago at this time, the Detroit Tigers competed for the American League title with the Boston Red Socks. A sports writer wrote that Ty Cobb, player for the Red Sox, made spectacular plays, executed precision hitting, and drew in crowds with his charismatic tip of the hat when he finished hitting.
