New York-Style Deli in the Heart of Cherry Grove

The Cherry Grove Deli and Bakery just celebrated its 1-year anniversary, serving what its owners call “a taste of the North in the South.” Sandwiches made with delicious crusty New York rolls, Reuben sandwiches, homemade egg salad, kielbasa, knishes, and home-baked meats such as liverwurst, homemade cinnamon rolls, even pies – all just a few feet from the beach! This shop even features allergy-free foods, avoiding allergens such as some preservatives, wheat, or peanut products.

While the nation’s most famous of lighting displays is the national Christmas tree, shown here, we have many gorgeous ones here in the Carolinas. At no cost, other than gasoline, you can drive your family to various neighborhoods around town to see the twinkling lights and creative designs.

One Day Makes A Huge Difference

Last Saturday the owner of the Savemore Superstore in Socastee opened his heart and his store doors in a gesture of helping members of the community who might not otherwise be able to afford Christmas this year. 3,000 people lined up for free toys and clothes in Gary Bingham’s one-day program called “One Day Can Make A Difference.” His warm deed helps families whose caregivers have suffered reduced hours or even job loss.

Recreational anglers, see if you can catch a saltwater catfish! Insider’s word is to fish from Barefoot Landing to the Little River Swing Bridge. Some people have been catching them around the docks in the Little River Waterfront area, too, ranging in size from 3 to 25 pounds (use cut bait and slow drifting at the top or bottom of the tide). You might pull in an occasional eel or two there, too.
