Volume 2, Issue 7                              July 2009

Welcome!

The summer is in full gear, promising only a few remaining weeks before Labor Day. Last-minute vacations can be just as much fun as long-planned ones, so if you have not even organized your vacation yet, consider a stay at brand new Towers on the Grove for its affordability and oceanfront location. Of course, your vacation at Towers can be even better if you have children because our water amenities alone will keep your children busy for days on end. In fact, a little informal poll among some young guests recently yielded the following quotation: "Come on! You've GOT to try this twisty water slide!"

Here in the Cherry Grove section of North Myrtle Beach, this year's grand opening for the brand new Towers has been on the community's list of the latest happenings. Other attractions include a new mode of transportation — the Myrtle Beach Trolley running nearly every hour to hour-and-a-half around a loop from Ocean Drive in North Myrtle Beach over to Barefoot Landing on Highway 17. The minimal cost of $3/one way allows guests and locals to enjoy sightseeing between the beach and the shopping area as well as taking people where they need to go.

Another link for travelers is "The Main Street Connector," due to open in August. Actually named Robert Edge Parkway, this new highway extends from Main Street in North Myrtle Beach across the Intracoastal Waterway to Highway 9 where you can turn easily on to Highway 31, a major 8-lane highway leading to all points south of the Grand Strand.

Having Edge Parkway will means a relatively easy ride to reach the amusements located on Highway 501, such as Freestyle Music Park which has a new ticket price of "buy-one-get-one-free" deal until Labor Day if tickets are purchased before 4 pm (see the web site for details: www.FreestyleMusicPark.com) .

Other "hot" deals here at the beach include free children's tickets. The Alabama Theatre offers free tickets to children 16 and under with the purchase of an adult ticket on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturdays. Legends in Concert also offers free tickets to two children per paying adult, also through Labor Day.

North Myrtle Beach continues to be the best place to come for any vacation, especially summer, and with the opening of Ocean Drive (O D) Pavilion, an amusement park located at the Horseshoe at Main Street in North Myrtle Beach, families will be able to enjoy non-stop fun from 4 pm to .11 pm (times vary by season). Rides, games, food, fun are all part of this new addition to the beach, with details available at www.odpavilion.com. Of course, don't miss the "Hippo," a nearby 3-story tall inflatable water slide right on the beach; priced at $3/ride with all-day tickets available, this has been a huge hit with the beach crowd all summer long!

Make the most of the time remaining in summer and bring yourself and loved ones to see what we have going on here.

Inside Tip: Save money during South Carolina's special tax-free weekend from August 7 to 9 on buying essentials for the school and business year ahead (for details see www.sctax.org). Book your late summer vacation, add some golf tee times, and get in some shopping during that weekend!

Your friends, the Staff at Towers on the Grove!

Arranging Golf Packages and Tee-Times

During these summer '09 months, many golfers have found that last minute arrangements have allowed them to take advantage of our ever-changing weather. This has been a relatively comfortable summer so far, enabling some to book those attractive cost-saving afternoon tee-times when ordinarily that would mean scorching conditions out on any fairway.

Whether your golf group wants each detail of a golf vacation down to the exact seating at each restaurant for each night of the outing or simply plans to take "pot-luck" in arranging tee times after arriving on our shores, we can help. Our golf specialists know the Grand Strand courses exceptionally well and can help you make arrangements for everything from the golf game itself to having your clubs adjusted and your stance reviewed on video.

With only a few weeks remaining, fall golfers are anticipating which courses they want and how many weeks they can stay here to play before real life calls them back home from the tee box. Of course, we have a fabulous array of golf package options on premier courses, so we encourage all golfers, whether careful or last minute planners, to consider these two particular choices to add to their golf itineraries:
  • Burroughs and Chapin Package ~ This package includes courses located from Myrtle Beach to North Carolina (Grande Dunes, Tidewater, Myrtlewood Palmetto and Pine Hills, Meadowlands, Farmstead, and River Hills Golf and Country Club). Experience the superb design and variation that you want in coastal golf, with holes running alongside the Intracoastal Waterway and marshland areas, changing elevation and scenery. Playing here is good and fair for all levels of golfers, so ask your Reservation agent about "The Grande Daddy" specials (3-night or 5-night special).

  • Myrtle Beach National Package ~ Feel close to golfing greats Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus when you play these courses (Aberdeen, The Long Bay Club, SouthCreek and West Course at Myrtle Beach National, Litchfield Country Club, Waterway Hills, River Club, Willbrook Plantation, and the ever-popular King's North). Their design and views will take amaze you. Either the four-course package or the six-round package offers you great cost savings.

Tower's reservations agents can help you put together an affordable and memorable golf outing for Fall '09. Give a call to 888.905.3001 today so that you won't miss the fun!

Featured Recipe - Honey-Barbequed Ribs

Tender par-boiled ribs are further cooked and flavored with the grill as they soak in the sweet-and-spicy sauce covering them. This recipe makes 4 servings and takes about 1 1/4 hours to make.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 pounds pork spareribs
  • 1 can (10 1/2 oz.) Campbell's® Condensed French Onion Soup
  • 3/4cup ketchup
  • 1/3cup honey
  • 1/2tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2tsp. ground black pepper

DIRECTIONS:
  • Cut the fresh ribs into serving pieces. Place ribs in 6-quart saucepot. Cover with water. Heat to a boil. Reduce heat to low. Cover and cook 30 minutes. Drain.

  • Combine the soup mix, ketchup, honey, garlic powder and black pepper in 2-quart saucepan. Heat to a boil. Reduce heat to low. Cook 5 minutes.

  • Place the ribs on lightly oiled grill rack over medium-hot coals. Grill 20 minutes or until no longer pink and glazed. Turn them often over a 50-minute period, and each time brush them with the soup mixture.

  • Remove from the grill when the meat appears tender, pulling away from the bone.

  • Serve with grilled corn-on-the-cob and a tossed green salad. For dessert serve sliced fresh cantaloupe.

I would just like to say WOW! What a beautiful place. I went on TripAdvisior.com, and they didn't have you listed, but they do now. I put you in, and they got back to me in 1 day, so you're now listed for everyone to see all the great things people have to say about you. My daughter and I came down on May17th and stayed until the 21st. The weather wasn't the best, but the ocean and our room made up for it. Brad was at the front desk when we got there and was all smiles. What a great thing to see after being on the road. He couldn't have been any nicer. We have told a lot of people about Towers on the Grove and showed them pictures of our room which was beautiful to say the least. Can't wait to come back.

I don't know the name of the individual who checked us in and out (Sat. 5/23 & Tues 5/26), but she was extremely friendly & helpful. In addition, I had requested balloons in our unit as my husband's birthday was 5/24 - whoever was responsible for that did a beautiful job - towels were arranged in a heart-shaped swan arrangement with the balloons attached - what a treat. I also asked upon reservation that when we check in the front desk individual not mention the balloons - which she did not. Very classy, professionally run facility. We hope to return and I'm hopeful I receive e-mails on any specials that may occur. Thank you!

Our family had a wonderful vacation at Towers on the Grove. We were impressed with the building, quality and size of our unit and the view was amazing! We appreciated having the use of a washer and dryer in our room. Our check-in, by Roger, was handled in a friendly and efficient manner. He made us feel very welcome and followed up with a courtesy call after check-in, to ensure that we were happy with our unit. Our check-out was equally smooth. All of the staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful. Before arriving at the hotel, I called the reservation telephone number with questions that were answered to my complete satisfaction. As well, when I had to change the dates of our reservation, the cancellation/change fee was generously waived. Thanks for a great stay! We look forward to returning to Towers on the Grove next year!

The only way our stay could have possibly been better was for it to be free. This resort is absolutely wonderful. We booked online with the "manager's special," and everyone in our group was thrilled with your place. We were in Tower "two" and actually preferred that to oceanfront [building.] Our views were stunning. We really enjoyed swimming up so high in the air!

[No] one person [made my] and my sister's stay at Towers on the Grove a great one because everyone was so helpful, kind, and gracious - everyone from the people at the lobby registration desk to the maid who took the time to take a picture of me and my sister. The room was amazing (we loved two TVs because I could watch my dvds of Guy Sebastian, my favorite singer, and my sister could watch whatever it was she was watching. lol. The view from our room was just want I wanted. Everything was perfect for our birthday celebration. Thank you so much. We will definitely return. I've already told people about your facility.
