Volume 2, Issue 4                              April 2009

Welcome!

ALL signs of winter are long gone, its spell broken with the arrival of our bright sunny spring days! With each passing sunset, a little more warmth adds length to the days, the green growth, and the amount of fun that vacationers are having. Spring is here with promises of great things to come for the year! We even see people out there in the ocean, throwing off their shoes and dashing out in the surf for games and swimming.

Towers on the Grove's staff has been working tirelessly to prepare all final details of its amenities for the spring and summertime vacationers. We invite you to be among the first to stay in the brand new Towers where the charm of the condos' decorations and the comfort of its facilities are sure to please. Many vacation special discounts are popping up, too, helping to stretch that vacation dollar.

Those guests getting a jump-start on beach fun have commented to us about on the stunning views from their private balconies at Towers. They expressed delight at having decided to spend Easter here at the beach. Stunning sunrises over the Atlantic, the bright green buds on trees, and pink tinges on blossoming plants provided colorful spring touches to their fabulous holiday weekend.

Other spring events included Relay for Life. Fund-raising successes continue to mount up through volunteers' efforts of bake sales and other projects. Our team has surpassed its half-way mark in fund raising and then the actual relay event held in Myrtle Beach's Ripken Experience youth baseball park on April 24th. If you were in town at this time, we hope that you had a chance to stop by to support our teams.

Additionally, the Society of Stranders (SOS) held its first North Myrtle Beach warm-weather outing during April 17-26. Called the "Spring Safari," the whole event culminated on April 25th with a parade on Main Street and events at Fat Harold's Beach Club on Ocean Drive. If you stayed with us at Towers for these events or just stopped by to de-stress over a long weekend, we thank you for your business and hope we will see you again during the summer!

Every day is a day to pay tribute the U. S. armed forces, from military to police to fire fighters and others who put their lives on the line in service to our country.

During the month of May, in particular May 28-30 when the City of Myrtle Beach hosts Military Appreciation Days, service personnel from the area-wide bases will be here to enjoy friendly competition of golf, basketball, softball, and running, even a "combat cuisine cook-off." We hope that they select Towers on the Grove as one of their accommodations because of its tranquility, amenities, and convenient location.

For more information about the Myrtle Beach Military Appreciation Days, see www.militaryappreciationdays.com/welcome.html. To find out more about the year-round military discount at Towers, see our web site under "specials" or call 843.249.7575.

Guest Comments

Here are some of the recent remarks from our guests.

I was very impressed with the accommodations and cleanliness of the room. After this trip, I don't think I will stay anywhere else when I visit Myrtle Beach. I will advise family and friends of this resort and hope to be returning in the near future.

[Online assessment from J Cox in Georgia, March 27, 2009.]

I would like to say I was very impressed. I stayed in room 539, and the view was amazing. I have already recommended Towers on the Grove to my friends. You get 5 stars from me!!!!

[Online assessment from S Dunn in North Carolina, March 22, 2009.]

We are a military family, having stayed in hotels throughout the world. Towers on the Grove was absolutely the nicest and well-appointed room we have EVER stayed in. With the special online pricing it was also the greatest bargain.

[Online assessment from J Durham in North Carolina, March 22, 2009.]

I want to express my sincere appreciation for Michael!! I was amazed while waiting to check-in at his professionalism and ability to multi task, even at 10:30 p.m.!! He further impressed me when correcting a situation and then calling back 30 minutes later to ensure I was satisfied. My husband and I travel quite a bit and unfortunately, there are very few customer service centered personnel. Michael represents you extremely well and should be recognized. I certainly trust you have a Employee Reward and Recognition program so that he can be appropriately thanked!

Email to Towers from the Lampe Family in Columbia, SC, March 30, 2009.

If you have not already made plans to visit us this year, take a moment to glance at these comments to help you decide. With recent times being especially stressful, this year makes an opportune time to visit the beach, not only because of price discounts, great specials with their own discounts, and a wide variety of things to see and do, but also because of the restful qualities found at the beach - gently rolling waves, fresh air, open skies, and relaxation.

See you at the beach!

Fun Facts

·  The hippopotamus is the 3rd largest animal in the world, next to the elephant and the white rhino. A hippo in dry air loses 3 to 5 times as much water per square inch per minute through its skin as a man does. A group of hippos is sometimes called a "bloat."

·  The first product to have a bar code scanned was Wrigley's gum.

·  In the game of golf, the odds of hitting a hole-in-one are 40,000 to one.

·  When you see sand ripples on a dune, the spacing of the ripples is related to the average distance that grains jump. This in turn is related to the wind's velocity and size of the grains. Wind ripples are often very spectacular and photogenic, especially when the thousands of tiny ridges catch early-morning or later-afternoon shadows.

·  Explorers and naturalists throughout the world have described strange sounds emanating from sand dunes, called "booming" or "barking" sand. Dryness is essential for sound production in booming sand, and rain or high humidity will eliminate booming completely.

·  71% of office workers who were stopped on the street for a survey agreed to give up their computer passwords in exchange for a chocolate bar.

·  Bread is delivered fresh to stores 5 days a week. Check for freshness by looking for the twist tie on the bread bag. Each tie is color-coded according to its shelf arrival date (none on Wednesday):

Monday = Blue
Tuesday = Green
Thursday = Red

Friday = White
Saturday = Yellow

So if today is Thursday, you want to buy bread with a red twist tie; not white which would be Friday's product (almost a week old)! The colors coding is alphabetical by color (Blue Green Red White - Yellow,) from Monday through Saturday.

·  Do you love having fresh flowers in your Seaside condo? To keep your cut flowers fresher longer, add a little bleach to the water (approximately 1 teaspoon to 1 gallon) or 2 aspirin tablets. Alternatively, instead of putting the flowers in water, put them in regular (not diet) clear soda such as 7-Up or Sprite.

·  75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. Even mild dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%, but balance is key. Drinking water constantly may dilute your blood, causing sodium levels to fall.

·  Fruits and vegetables are nearly salt-free. Only when salt is added to fruits and vegetables can saliva and gastric secretions readily break down carbohydrates.

·  Ocean salt alone possesses the power to restore wholeness to the human internal seas, our body fluids.
